Speaking in public

 Speaking in public

Do you hate talking in public? I do. It's an awful feeling to know that you're somehow going to "have" to speak in front of a group of strangers and probably be judged at the same time.

There are plenty of ways for overcoming the fear of public speaking, though. In this post, I'll list some different methods for conquering your fear and presenting yourself confidently in any setting.

  1. If you do not have time to read all of this, the easiest method is to simply sit down, take deep breaths, and think of nothing but the target of your presentation. If you're uncomfortable with sitting down (I'm not), you can use a public speaking method called "deep picture" and imagine yourself standing on a stage speaking to an audience.

Public Speaking: For the Rest of Us
The most daunting aspect of public speaking is feeling like you're good enough to be in front of that audience or group.

You've most likely heard about the 10,000-hour rule. When it comes to public speaking, it requires you to be able to do that for around 5 hours a day, every day. The first 2 years may feel like an eternity, but eventually, you'll get used to it. It's not easy though.

If you're just starting with public speaking, especially if you have no experience with or knowledge about speaking in public, it's a good idea to start by doing what's called ice breakers.

Ice breaker #1: Pick a subject to talk about for the next 2 minutes. Don't worry about being funny or interesting. You're not even supposed to talk yet, just be yourself and give the group a little history on your chosen subject. After 2 minutes, ask yourself if you'll have anything else to add.

point to be remembered

1) PREPARE, PREPARE, PREPARe
2) KEEP IT SHORT AND RELEVANT
3) CONVEY YOUR MESSAGE CLEARLY
4) BUILD AN EMOTIONAL CONNECTION

5) PAUSE FOR A MOMENT OR TWO

Always be confident in yourself while in public
confident all win before match start
don't be overconfident.
